Join us for a tour of the Como Recycling Facility on Tuesday, December 17th from 4-5pm! The Como Recycling Facility, part of the University of Minnesota, is dedicated to advancing sustainability through efficient recycling practices. It processes a range of recyclable materials, including paper, plastics, and metals, while educating the community on waste reduction and recycling importance. The facility also engages in research to develop innovative recycling technologies and practices, supporting the university's broader environmental goals and fostering a culture of sustainability within the campus and surrounding areas. Registration open until 10am on Tuesday.
Como Recycling Facility is located at 3009 Como Ave SE in Minneapolis.
The tour and Q&A session will take approximately 1hr. Please arrive 5 minutes before your scheduled start time.
Parking: We recommend taking the bus (Routes 3A and 3B run along Como Ave) biking or carpooling as parking is limited. There are 2 visitor spots in front of our "scale house" building. Street parking is also available on Como Ave. A bike rack is available by the main entrance.
You will be greeted at our Scale House
Photography is not permitted during operation hours for safety and privacy reasons. There will be an opportunity to take photos at designated locations during the tour.
Please keep in mind that we will be walking on various surfaces and climbing stairs, so wear appropriate attire that allows for comfortable movement and mobility.
